1 Timothy 4:12

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Here is a little encouragement for tonight, and an important reminder. My dearest friend, my mentor, used to tell me how much of a light I had. That I am smart and to listen and trust myself.

So I’m passing it forward, Bear. Thank you for your kind words and your gentle heart. And for believing in me when I couldn’t. Thank you for making this verse speak to me, to believe in myself. To stand with God, and with what I know is true.

Tonight this verse has helped me. Because it is not my fault I am young. It is not your fault that you are young. Age is just a number. And remember that God used the most ordinary of people to do incredible things through Him. And I am listening to the Sidewalk Prophets right now in kind of a ‘feel better, inspirational’ song. To help me write it.

Hold onto that truth tonight. I believe in you all. That you are all capable of greater things than you could ever imagine. And thanks to my mentor, because he’s the one who said that to me. That I have a light…that I’m special. Even though I’ve heard it before,  coming from him made the difference.
